Frequently Asked Questions
We offer attention to detail and individual needs, and quality of craftsmanship only a custom shop can offer. Our cabinetry will add beauty and functionality to your home for generations.
You can meet with a designer who will listen attentively to your ideas and needs. We will help you create custom cabinetry that fits your style. Our best suggestion is to find photos of what you want your completed project to look like. What styles, colors, and types of wood do you want to incorporate? We don’t need all of the specifics but a photo is a great way to start. We can help you work through all the details. We suggest searching on line. Houzz, Kitchens.com and Pinterest are great places to start.
Dimensions of your space are crucial for pricing, and Inspiration photos help us understand your vision so we can put together a rough estimate. If you can measure your space as close to the nearest inch we can work with that.
Yes, if our rough estimate fits your budget and you want to move forward with your project we can come and measure your space.
Yes, if we come to your house and measure the space, we do require a non-refundable deposit. If you decide to follow through with the project, that deposit is then applied as a payment.
Measuring for your project is not a requirement, if you can provide us with adequate dimensions, we would be happy to build your items from them, as long as you sign off agreeing that you are confident in the dimensions you provide.
Absolutely! We may also make suggestions on things that could be changed or improved upon to make your space more functional.
When we have dimensions and idea details worked out, we can provide a 3D color rendering of what your project is going to look like. We will work with you to decide the preferred configuration of cabinets that fit in your space as well as any inserts, roll out shelves or special hardware you would like to incorporate into the functionality of your cabinets. When all of the fine details are agreed upon we will also be able to give you more precise cost for your project, if necessary. Once you agree to the details and pricing, we have you sign a contract and provide a deposit to begin the material ordering process and start construction of your project
There are so many variables that determine pricing. Each project is unique and as a custom cabinet manufacturer we can build anything you want. Before you commit to your project, we will provide you with a detailed written estimate so there’s no surprises.
That depends on what your project is and the timing. We don’t require you to pay us for installation but sometimes we can provide that option. We are a custom cabinet shop, not a general contracting company, we only handle the cabinet portion of your project. If there are any other details that need completion, tearout, construction, plumbing, electrical work…you will need a contractor to handle that. We will work directly with your installer and communicate our suggested best options for installation of our cabinetry to help the process go as smoothly as possible.
Sorry, we don’t repair existing cabinetry. We can however build you a new replacement.
We can use any color from any of the major paint companies. We can attempt to match existing colors, but it can be a difficult process because generally we don’t know what kind of finish products and tints were used. Although we cannot guarantee 100% perfect match, we will get colors as close as possible. We will provide a color sample for you to ensure it’s the correct color.
All of our custom cabinet boxes are made from 3/4″ pre-finished maple plywood. Our stained doors are made from solid wood and our painted cabinet door frames are made from maple and the center panels are made from MDF. We use MDF for our painted door panels because it does not expand and contract with changes in humidity, so no fear of cracked paint joints. All of our face frames are made from solid wood. Our dovetailed drawer boxes are made from maple and have 3/8″ bottoms for strength. We also offer an upgraded bamboo drawer box for a custom feature.
Yes, we build our upper cabinetry slightly deeper than “stock” cabinetry to ensure your dishes fit. Our standard upper cabinets are 13″ deep, which gives you 11 1/2″ of internal space from the back of the door to the back of the cabinet. If you need deeper cabinetry we can also accommodate that request.
No, we are a custom cabinet shop, everything is made to order.
The only exception is our charcuterie boards, oil and board butter and an occasional display in our showroom.
The simple answer is we don’t compare. Our cabinetry is a much higher quality in both materials and workmanship and therefore tends to be more expensive than “semi” custom cabinets that can be purchased through big box stores. Although at first glance our pricing is higher, our offerings are also greater. You pay a premium upcharge for painted and specialty finishes through those cabinet companies. Price out their inset cabinetry and you’ll see ours can actually be LESS expensive, while also getting a much better quality. Our preference and skill set comes from years of building Inset cabinetry with painted finishes so those things aren’t an “upcharge” to our pricing, they are our standard.
We like to suggest to make sure you’re comparing apples to apples when it comes to price comparisons with big box stores. Their employees generally don’t have the experience in design details, nor do they offer some of the complete custom options we can provide.
